| Barbara
Head has a formal training in interior design with a B.I.D. from
the University of Manitoba. Having practised both commercial and
residential design in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver,
B. C., she has, in recent years delved into the world of fabric and textile art. Barbara's work has a "painterly" quality influenced in part, by her experience in watercolour painting. The images created are realized solely by the placement and juxtaposition of the various fabrics overlaying one another, held together by profuse stichery, thus achieving additional colour and texture. The tactile qualities made possible through the use of fabrics of varying weight, texture and translucency allow Barbara to translate her ideas and impressions into a fluid visual field. |
