| SHAWN A. JACKSON
Shawn Jackson was encouraged by her father, a landscape painter, to take up the challenge of painting at an early age. Born in Victoria, B.C. on June 17, l952, Shawn studied Fine Arts at Douglas College in Surrey, B.C. and participated in seminars and workshops with the Federation of Canadian Artists in Vancouver, B.C.
Working mainly in acrylic, Shawn's paintings evoke the feelings of the West Coast, its shores and islands, ponds and lakes. She makes frequent trips to the Gulf Islands in search of material for her paintings as well as other destinations of inspiration. Children, in their 'quiet innocence' are sometimes portrayed in her work, which is known for its impressionistic sweeping brushwork, atmospheric color, perspective and strong use of light and shade.
Shawn's paintings have become part of many private and corporate collections including Cominco Ltd. And Fletcher Challenge Canada Ltd.
In 1993, Shawn Jackson was elected to AFCA status with the Federation of Canadian Artists. She is represented by a number of galleries in British Columbia and Alberta.
